Breeder referral
Looking for a puppy?
A good breeder is the best start a dog can have. Here's how to find one, and how breeders can get in touch with us.
Before you buy
How to spot a responsible breeder
Meet the parents
You should be able to meet the mother, often the father too, and see where the puppies are raised.
Health testing
Good breeders screen their dogs for the problems common in their breed, and they'll show you the results.
They ask you questions
Expect to be interviewed. A breeder who cares where their puppies go will want to know about your home and plans.
A written contract
Look for a contract that includes a promise to take the dog back, at any age, if you can't keep it.
Waiting is normal
Reputable breeders often have waiting lists. Puppies that are always available are a warning sign.
Never sight unseen
Be wary of sellers who ship puppies without meeting you, or who push for a deposit right away.
Start here
Ask the breed experts
Most breeds have a national breed club, and they're the real experts on their breed. Search for your breed's national club: most keep a breeder directory and can point you to someone near Columbus.
Not sure where to start? Ask us. We'll help if we can.

Our referral list
We're just getting started. As we get to know reputable breeders in the Chattahoochee Valley, we'll list them here.
Every breeder on our list has given us a copy of their Georgia pet dealer license, which the state requires to sell more than one litter in any 12-month period.
